The Stupa Inauguration, September 2007
In September of 2007, we were lucky to have the possibility to inaugurate a Stupa on the island of Fyn, Denmark. Sacha is the first of many Stupas that ShantiMayi wishes to have built around the world, with the purpose being the transmission and support of the prayer for the enlightenment of all beings. This purpose has always been ShantiMayi’s prayer and the purpose of her Guru’s Ashram in North India.

| The inauguration of Sacha was an incredible intensification of the thousands of prayers, chants and ceremonies that have been pouring into the Stupa since the onset of its construction. For three days, ShantiMayi guided a large gathering from all corners of the globe in using their individual and collective intention to ignite Sacha’s birth. ShantiMayi seemed always to be intuitively aligned to the most supportive means of going about things. Sacha has a very fine energy, she explained, and its delicacy was to be honoured. This did not in any way confine the passion and devotion of the crowd which was deep and sincere. And it seemed that the balance of receptivity and intensity of the Stupa contributed to our resolve in waves of loving radiation. |

And balance being as it is, the whole week was full of other activities: building camp, eating together, Satsangh, star-gazing, keeping warm, sweat lodges, brushing teeth, Gayatri Mantra and scrubbing pots. There were some very symbolic messages from nature including snakes, geese and a fox and the weather blessed us every single day! There were guests present from both within and outside Europe.

448 Medicine Buddha statues were passed from hand to hand and came to rest inside the stupa on shelves beneath the relics.
ShantiMayi’s prayer at the stupa: “Now on this day we celebrate together an initiation and inauguration. We gather to be initiated by the Stupa as we inaugurate the Birth of the Stupa. Bringing the spiritual vitality of our deepest desire into this beautiful Sacred Sculpture. Today we are priviliged to breathe our prayers into the heart of the Stupa and enliven it for the Enlightenment of all beings. May all who look upon it be blessed, inspired and enlightened” |
At sunrise Sunday, September 9th, four Havan fire ceremonies were performed, one for each direction - North, South, East and West. The sun spread its light on the people gathered together.

Thousands of hand written prayers were put into the fire while subdued, intense chanting is heard.

Relics sewn into silk lay spread around on the stupa ready to be placed inside.
